Senior Computer Club Begins!

The Grade 4 - 7's began their Computer Club this week.  It's been anticipated for at least 6 weeks, since it incorporates an outing to the Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary in McGregor.

We are working on a Project for the term. It kicks off with the ROADTRIP to McGregor where we will be taken around the Sanctuary, taught about the donkeys, where they came from and why they are there, as well as many other interesting things.  The children will work in groups to interview the Staff and these will be transcripted to their blogs that they will be documenting their outing on.

From there, we will head into McGregor Village where they will charge off in 2 Teams on a Donkey Treasure Hunt that will take them on a run-around the village. Stretch those legs a bit!  They will need to answer questions related to their morning to get their clues. Eventually we will meet up and enjoy a couple of games, a swim, and a lazy afternoon before the trip home.

Each week at Computer Club, they will add something of interest about their outing, whether it be the trip there, how to groom a donkey, the parts of a donkey, why they are there, what is a Sanctuary, etc. It would be great if you read their blogs and left some encouraging comments for them!  You will find the links to their blogs on the Blogroll on the sidebar, or click here. The actual aim of this Club, apart from the obvious enjoyment and the skills learnt, is to ADOPT a DONKEY for the School. They will create a Powerpoint Presentation that they will present at Assembly where they'll speak about their Outing and motivate the Adoption Idea.  The Club will hold a raffle to collect money for this and there will be a reward for the class who raises the most money.

The Club will also be creating their own narrated Photo Story made up of all the photo's that will be taken on the outing. They will be using Microsoft Autocollage as well, which is a fabulous way of collaging all your photo's without the hassle of doing it manually. I used Autocollage for this pic - it's free and you can download the programme here.

Then, if time allows, they will create a Board Game in pairs which would need to include Donkeys! 

We are all very excited about the Club and are looking forward to a great Term!
