Grandparents Day!

Grandparents Day is always a special event on the Calendar. The classes and some individuals prepared an item to perform, tea was laid on and excitement was evident among the learners.

We have a book table where books can be bought and donated to the school. We so appreciate these donations that give hours of reading pleasure, made possible by the Grannies and Grandpa's.

After the performances the Grandparents were taken upstairs to the classrooms where they perused the books and work of their grandchildren. It's always wonderful to see the interaction at this event and some precious moments are witnessed.

Barn Dance!

Our final Fundraiser of the year was our Barn Dance. A great opportunity to dress up (or down), bring your sense of humour, and your children and have a good time together.

It was well supported and enjoyed by all!

The Intercessors Tea

We are privileged to have a wonderful group of people in our local and international community who partner with us in prayer. 

Earlier this month we invited them to have tea with us to thank them for their encouragement and support which we really value.

Unfortuately not all our intercessors could be there, but it was a great time for the Staff to meet these people who so faithfully support them and the School in prayer.

KFC Mini Cricket

Our Mini Cricketers excited to be a part of the KFC Tournament!

We were so excited to find that our Mini Cricket Team was invited to take part in the KFC Mini Cricket Tournament at Newlands on the momentous 11.11.11 Test Match between SA and Aus.

Grade 7 Messages

The Grade 7's this week had fun playing with Voki Avatars.  My instruction to them was to leave a message or some advice to the Grade 1-6's as they go forward.  They definately enjoyed it. If you would like to try this at home, you will find instructions here. 

Trees!

The Grade 2's have been studying Trees in class lately and went, with the rest of the school, on an outing to the Arboretum.

It was a beautiful day for an outing and everyone enjoyed themselves.

The Grade 2's  then wrote their own poems about Trees.....

Truthfulness

The Grade 3 Assembly on Friday was on introducing the character trait of "Truthfulness".

We began with a dance group - Kingdom Dancers who did a great hip hip dance number for us.

After that, Mrs B reminded the children what truthfulness is using Pinocchio and following it with the story of Ananias and Saphira.

She ended with a lovely illustration with coke and plastic buttons: How, if we drop the buttons into a glass of Coke, they appear hidden from view, but eventually they float to the surface. This is what happens when we lie - eventually our sin finds us out. 

 We are thankful for a loving God who forgives us when we sin.

CONGRATULATIONS to all our Children on their Awards this week.

Heat Conductors

The Grade 7's are busy studying Heat Transfer in NS.

Heat is conducted in 3 ways:

• Conduction
• Convection
• Radiation

This week we looked at 'Conduction' and three students had to prepare experiments to share.

A piece of metal in a candle flame. heat from the flame causes the wire to heat up.

Bowl of boiling water with 3 spoons.  Which heated up?
The metal spoon is a good conductor of heat, but the plastic and wood did not heat up.

Ice in water. Cold from the ice transfers to the hot water cooling it down.

How do we protect ourselves from being burnt on household items?

Grade 1 & Recorders

The Grade 1's led Assembly today and we were treated to them playing a short Recorder piece. Mrs B had chosen an accompanying clip of music and each group had a turn to play along with it.

It was lovely to have Raph and Thom lead us in the singing this morning and look forward to many more times that they lead!

And then.... our Merit Award children!

All of the Grade 1's for their boldness and enthusiasm in the Recorder piece this morning and practising diligently! Well done to all of our Grade children, keep up the good work. We are proud of you!
