During last term the children were hard at work, providing beautiful pictures for the prestigious Sanlam 2011 Art Competition.
This years theme is "Water Wise". Of all the wonderful work, 15 pictures have been selected to enter. Well done to those children!
In September we will be explaining Trechnikov's art. This will be followed by a visit to the Iziko Art Exhibition to view his work. Grade 5,6 and 7 will be going on this outing.
Look out for your children's art which will be displayed at "A Kidsummer Night's Dream".

Grade 4 - Tech
I was nervous when I was told that the Grade 4's needed candles, materials, wool and other bit's and pieces for school...
However, the scene on arrival was one where everyone was happily involved in their Tech experiments of "seeing what burns".

"In Technology we burned a piece of material, paper clips, wool, and other stuff. It was so fun by the way. We did it on the 21 July 2011, a Thursday." ~ Rachel ~
"We were burning stuff for Technology to see if the materials burn or not." ~ Savannah ~
"On July 21 we did a burning project to see if stuff could burn. We burnet paper clips, material, wook, marshmellow, elastic band and it was a lot of fun." ~ Cush ~
Grade 2 - Earthworms!
Our Grade 2's are busy with Earthworms at the moment. Mrs Dooley managed to catch some really special moments of concentration with them.
We followed this up in ICT and they completed an Online Story by filling in words that they thought would make the story interesting.
These stories are now going to be printed and given back to them to use in class.
Grade 7 - Pneumatic System
The Grade 7's made a frog with a moving mouth.
This exercise domonstrated a simple pneumatic system which works with compressed air. Examples of pneumatic systems are large buses' and trucks, pneumatic drills, dentistry and spraypaint.
It looked like a lot of fun!
Assembly
Dale went to Pietermaritzburg to play in the Inter-Provincial under 13 Squash Tournament. He was unbeaten and his team won a Gold Medal.

Assembly - 3rd Term Begins
Welcome Back Everyone!
We hope that you had a lovely break and enjoyed the warm weather.
Today at Assembly Mrs O began the first in the Series "Character Traits" with Humility. For the next two weeks at school this trait will be built upon and it would be great if you could pick it up at home when you can.
We are very thrilled to announce the newest member of our SRC, Raph - Well Done my boy, we know that you are going to be a real asset to the team.

Book Week - Part 1
This week has been Book Week.
We have had Mystery Readers come in and read to each Grade, we have had The Story Teller - Jilly Southwood come and thoroughly entertain the children. We have also had opportunities for paired reading, where the Grade 4's read with the Grade 1's.
So sweet to see the interaction between them!

Grade 1 - Robots
The Grade One's have had Space as their theme this term. Outside their classroom is an array of space-related drawings and creations!
However, the usually organised, clean and cosy classroom, became the "Central Control of Robots" recently, as the Grade 1's embellished, painted, ornmented, cut and donned their boxes that would transform them into robtos!
It was obvious how much fun was had, those still busy would not be moved by all the fuss around them, no camera clicking, no amount of attempted distraction would sway them from finishing their 'outfit'. Those that were complete, wondered around admiring their fellow robotic peers.

Trusting you enjoyed the pics of the Grade 1 Robots...
